Dampfi x 2 is an acrylic, fi bre reinforced waterproofi ng membrane used for waterproofi ng shower recesses,
bathrooms, laundries, roofs and decks. Dampfi x 2 is part of a system.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
• Low odour
• Fibre reinforced
• Water based
• Easy to apply
• Internal and external applications
Surfaces must be fi rm, clean, dry, sound and smooth. All grease, oil, wax, curing compounds, dust droppings, loose material, paint and
any other contaminants must be removed. Timber and particleboard fl ooring must be sanded. Fibrous cement sheeting and water resistant
plasterboard must be fi xed in accordance to the manufacturer’s directions. Allow concrete to cure for 28 days and cement render to cure for 7
days prior to the application of Dampfi x 2. Porous surfaces must be primed with ASA Multiprime prior to the application of Dampfi x 2.
ASA Multiprime is a synthetic latex based liquid which can be used for priming a variety of substrates prior to the use of ASA water-based
waterproofi ng membranes. ASA Multiprime eliminates dust and reduces porosity of plasterboard, fi brous cement sheeting, porous concrete
and timber fl oors.
ASA Multiprime should be applied onto the correctly prepared surface using a brush, roller or sponge. Allow to dry for at least 30 minutes prior
to the application of Dampfi x 2. ASA Multiprime is available in 20 litre, 5 litre and 1 litre plastic jerry cans.
ASA Multiprime is white in colour when applied, and dries clear.
PVC pipes must be primed with Bostik N40 Primer. Dense concrete and metal surfaces must be primed with ASA Multiprime – 2 Part.
ASA Multiprime – 2 Part is a two part epoxy primer specifi cally developed for use on non-porous substrates such as dense, smooth concrete,
existing tiles and ASA approved polyurethane membranes. ASA Multiprime – 2 Part provides a good bond coat prior to the application of
ASA approved tile adhesives, ASA self levelling compounds and ASA approved waterproofi ng membranes. ASA Multiprime – 2 Part is a
uniform blue liquid. ASA Multiprime – 2 Part is available in 20 litre, 8 litre and 4 litre kits.
Apply ASA Neutral Cure Silicone to all wall/wall joints, wall/fl oor joints, hob/wall and hob/fl oor joints. All sheet joints and fi xings must also
be fi lled with ASA Neutral Cure Silicone, before applying a coat of Dampfi x 2 over all sheet joints extending 100mm either side of the joint.
The application of Dampfi x 2 must comply with AS3740 2004 “Waterproofi ng of Internal Wet Areas in Residential Buildings”. Dampfi x 2
should be applied using a brush or roller. It is advisable to wear protective gloves when applying Dampfi x 2.
NOTE: a minimum thickness of 1mm dried Dampfi x 2 is required for optimum waterproofi ng properties. The surface onto which the Dampfi x
2 is applied must be continuous. Dampfi x 2 cannot span gaps. Dampfi x 2 must be applied at 1 litre per m2 per coat. Two coats are required.
Allow membrane to cure for a minimum of 24 hours between coats.
Apply Dampfi x 2 to the internal vertical corners of the shower using a brush. Ensure the corner is well coated. This must extend past
the height of the shower rose. It is important to coat around tap protrusions in the wall. The wall/fl oor joint must be coated with Dampfi x
2. The coat must extend onto the fl oor at least 100mm and onto the wall 100mm. Where the height of the hob is greater than 75mm, the
Dampfi x 2 must extend at least 25mm above the height of the hob. The walls should then be coated. Once the wall/wall junctions, wall/
fl oor junctions, tap protrusions and walls are coated, then the shower fl oor must be coated. When coating the fl oor, the Dampfi x 2 must be
dressed down into the waste at least 50mm. The fl oor must be coated with the Dampfi x 2 ensuring a minimum thickness of 1mm. Allow to
dry for at least 24 hours (a longer time is needed in cold or humid conditions). Apply a fi nal coat to ensure no imperfections are present in
the membrane. Allow 24 hours to fully cure.
Floors of Wet Areas and Decks
Apply Dampfi x 2 to wall/fl oor junctions and sheet fl ooring joints and fi xings using a brush, extending at least 100mm either side of the joint.
Once these areas are dry, the entire fl oor area can be coated. Suffi cient Dampfi x 2 must be applied onto the surface to achieve a 1mm
thick dried fi lm. Allow to dry for a period of 24 hours (longer in cool and humid conditions). Apply a fi nal coat to ensure no imperfections are
present in the membrane. Allow 24 hours to fully cure.
Dampfi x 2 is recommended as a waterproofi ng membrane for non-traffi cable areas. Application is recommended as for “Floors of Wet Areas
Clean tools and equipment with warm water and detergent while the membrane is still wet.
20 litre, 10 litre and 4 litre plastic pails.
Approximately 2 litres per m² at 1mm thick dried fi lm.

During application of Dampfi x 2, avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear eye protection and gloves. Use in a well ventilated area. If contact with
skin occurs, fl ush eyes with copious quantities of clean water for at least 15 minutes and contact a physician. For more detailed information
refer to product MSDS.
Unopened pails can be stored for up to 12 months in a cool, dry and weatherproof environment.
• Dampfi x 2 is not a vapour barrier nor is it designed to stop a hydrostatic head of water pressure (for this application, ASA Dampfi x
Moisture Seal vapour barrier is recommended).
• Dampfi x 2 should not be installed on wet, contaminated, or friable substrates.
• Dampfi x 2 should not be applied if raining or if rain is imminent.
• Dampfi x 2 should not be applied to surfaces with protective coatings without prior consultation with ASA.
• Rate of cure will be inhibited when air or substrate temperatures are below 5°C, or if applied over a vapour barrier.
• Dampfi x 2 should not be applied over the recommended coverage of 1 litre per square metre and 1mm wet fi lm thickness in one
• Dampfi x 2 requires atmospheric conditions to cure. It should not be used in totally confi ned or air free spaces.
• To eliminate possible surface contamination or damage, it is recommended that tiling, mortar bed application or fi nished fl ooring be
carried out as soon as possible after full cure of membrane application.
• Dampfi x 2 must not be used as a wearing surface for foot or vehicle traffi c.
• Any intended application of Dampfi x 2 outside of intended use should be referred to ASA technical services for approval.
• Do not apply where the surface temperature is below 10°C or greater than 35°C.
