Liquid Flash 2-PACK, FAST DRYING, REINFORCED,WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE
CONSTRUCTION CHEMICALS

DESCRIPTION
LIQUID FLASH 2 PACK is a two pack fast drying, reinforced, cement/acrylic flexible waterproofing membrane
that is easily applied to form a resilient waterproof membrane between different building surfaces.
LIQUID FLASH 2 PACK will remain pliable and elastic and will bridge cracks and smooth irregular surfaces.
Internal wet areas must be waterproofed in accordance with AS3740 and local regulations. For more details
refer to brochure titled “Waterproofing Enclosed Shower Alcoves Prior to Tiling”.
CSIRO Appraisals Technical Assessment 175.
USES
A waterproofing membrane for roofs, balconies, retaining walls, planter boxes, ponds, internal wet areas (eg
bathrooms, kitchens, laundries and toilets). For use on cement render, concrete, brick, block and building boards
such as gypsum and cement sheeting on walls and structural timber and compressed cement sheeting on floors.
FEATURES
• Pre-reinforced.
• Easy to apply.
• Suitable for internal uses (externally must be covered with tiles, external coating or earth).
• Fast drying.
COVERAGE (approximate)
20L/20kg pack covers 14-18m2 (2 coats).
PERFORMANCE DATA
Conforms to AS/NZS 4858 Class 3
Tensile Strength (Mpa) AS/NZS 4858 2.93 Mpa
Elongation (%) 310%
Modified CSIRO Moving Joint Test
SPECIFICATION
The waterproof membrane shall be LIQUID FLASH 2 PACK, a two part cementitious/acrylic membrane that
has a minimum tensile strength of 2.93 Mpa and elogation 310% such as LIQUID FLASH 2 PACK manufactured
by Construction Chemicals and shall be applied in accordance with the manufacturer’s application instructions
and AS3740.
SURFACE APPLICATION
Surfaces must be sound and clean of grease, oil, dust and other contaminants.Treat surfaces as follows before
applying LIQUID FLASH 2 PACK: – Galvanised Iron – new. Degrease with xylene or similar and wash clean
with water and allow to dry. Rusty Surfaces – Wire brush to remove flaky rust and treat with a rust inhibitor.
Timber – Prime with a timber primer. Plastic Pipes – Roughen area to be coated with sand paper. Painted
Surfaces – Abrade with a wire brush or sand down to obtain a good mechanical key. Scrub thoroughly with
detergent and water and allow to dry. Cement sheet / Plaster Board – Prime with PRIMER & GROUT
ADDITIVE.Masonry – Render must be at least 7 days old, graded screed 7 days, concrete 28 days old and a
minimum 20 Mpa. Smooth concrete must be mechanically abraded and primed with SUPER PRIME.
Surfaces subject to rising damp and excessive moisture (slabs on ground not waterproofed with plastic) must be
damproofed with EPECRETE 24 hours prior to applying the membrane.
MIXING
Pour 4 litres of liquid into a mixing container and slowly add 4kg of powder. Mix using a slow speed electric drill
(400-500rpm) and mixing paddle being sure to add powder to the liquid. Mix for 2-3 minutes – let stand for
5 minutes and remix until all lumps are dispersed and the mix is creamy.Adjust mix to suit users preference.
Do not mix more than can be used in the pot life time. Hand mixing is not recommended.

 BOND BREAKING AND REINFORCING MAT
At junctions in building surfaces and over cracks and sheet joints place a bond breaking tape or neutral cure silicone (as per
AS/NZS 4858). Reinforce the first wet coat of membrane with 140mm reinforcing mat to accommodate extremes in
movement. Place the bond breaking system centrally over the junction or crack.
MEMBRANE APPLICATION
Apply two coats.Apply the second coat at 90° to the first as soon as it is dry (recoat time is approximately 2 hours at 25°C).
Apply each coat thickly (approximately 1.5mm wet) allowing it to flow rather than being brushed on. Use a soft brush for best
results.A ponding test after curing is recommended to ensure the integration of the application.
Thickness: Check the wet film thickness at 0.5 metre intervals and also at 0.5 metres along the bond breaking tape, with a
wet film thickness gauge.
POT LIFE
2 hours at 23°C @ 50% R.H.
PRECAUTION
The membrane will crack on the surface if excess powder is used.Apply at temperature 10°C-30°C. Do not thin or add filler.
– Apply at temperature between 10-30°C.
– Do not apply over surfaces subject to hydrostatic pressure or rising damp.
– Protect from rain for 3-4 hours. Can be tiled on after 24 hours and allow to cure for 3 days before putting on immersed
application.
– It is advised to flood test showers prior to commencing tiling.
– Not suitable for direct exposure to UV light and must be coated with DECK GRIP or an external paint, tiled over or used
beneath ground.
CURING
4 hours 23°C @ 50% relative humidity. Protect from rain for the first 4 hours. Cold damp conditions – increases curing time.
Hot dry conditions – reduces curing time.
Immersed applications i.e. ponds, must be allowed to cure for 3 days @ 23°C 50% relative humidity before
being put into use.
FIRST AID
If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Give a glass of water and seek medical advice.
CLEANUP
Clean up in water. Cured material with xylene solvent or similar.
