Power showers, shower cubicles, steam rooms, wet rooms made of water sensitive materials in hotels, guest houses, leisure centres, fitness centres, at work and even in our domestic environments are at risk of water penetration which puts these installations at great risk
It is often felt that the use of a water resistant pastes or cementitious adhesive and grout will suffice.  This is not true. These materials will only resist the effects of water passage for a certain time. Power showers can generate a considerable amount of pressure, which can saturate the grout and adhesive and penetrate the substrate, subsequently causing failure of the tiling installation.  A more comprehensive measure is then needed to prevent water penetration.  This is why we recommend Bostik-Watertite tanking/ waterproof system in such areas.

WaterShield TM is a flexible waterproofing membrane designed for use beneath ceramic, porcelain, natural stone tiles and mosaics in wet rooms and showers.  Suitable for internal walls and floors, the system protects underlying layers from the ingress of water and can be applied successfully to most common substrates.

LATICRETE Watertight Waterproofing Membrane
with Bio Barrier is an easy to use liquid rubber
waterproofing designed for use under thin & thick
bed installations of ceramic tile and stone in wet
areas such as balconies, bathrooms and kitchens.
Protects substrates behind the tiles from water
damage and inhibits stain causing mold and mildew
growth with Bio Barrier anti-microbial protection. For
internal and external application.
Complies with; AS/NZS4858-2004.

Approximately 15 –18 m2 per 19 litre pail and 6 –

- Note: Watertight liquid is applied in 2 coats for a
total wet thickness of 1.0 – 1.5mm. Coverage
varies based on substrate texture & porosity, and
application technique.
Shelf Life Factory sealed containers of this product
are guaranteed to be of first quality for two (2) years
if stored indoors at > 0oC and < 43oC.
Limitations
- Not a wearing surface –cover with tile, stone or brick.
- Not for use in applications such as swimming pools,
fountains and the like, use LATICRETE 9235 (consult
LATICRETE).
- Do not expose to direct ultraviolet (UV) light for longer
- Do not apply too thick; dry thickness should not
exceed 2mm.
- Not designed for direct use over expansion joints,
control joints or structural cracks.
- Do not install when temperatures are below 7oC.
- Allow membrane extra curing time in cold or damp
weather.
- Not a vapour barrier.
- Do not use in areas subject to negative hydrostatic
pressure
